“Over two years ago, as we prepared the amazing FKOFd001 with Dubfreq, we had no long-term goals for the digital imprint. Looking back over the last 24 releases, we’re absolutely astounded by what we (without spending too much time blowing our own trumpet) and our artists have achieved. And, as we initially had hoped (but not planned), we’ve reached the target we were aiming for with FKOFd. More on that front very soon…

“The 24th EP on FKOFd sees us, as is becoming customary, welcome new musicians to the FatKidOnFire stable. As you may have noticed over the course of the last two years, just over a third of the releases have come from British producers. That’s not by design, but we wanted to take time to champion UK musicians for our second anniversary. We’ve been keeping an eye on the Bristol-based Isolate for nearly a year now, first coming across Hugh and Iain’s work thanks to an appearance on Distance’s superb Chestplate podcast series. We first starting working with the duo towards the end of 2014 and here we are 11 months later with their debut release on FKOF…

“Isolate open proceedings on FKOFd024 with the decidedly minimal ‘Damaged’. The track carries the duo’s traits that first caught our attention - with its crisp percussion, space and atmospherics. ‘Damaged’ seems to lurk in the edges of your consciousness, hinting at what’s to come without ever revealing too much of itself. ‘Hyperion’ is a decidedly more aggressive affair; presenting itself with growls and hypnotic rolling weight. Definitely one to enjoy on a larger system if you can. It’s track three, however - the mysterious ‘Program’ - that fully demonstrates why we’re so excited about Isolate. As the drop arrived in Distance’s Chestcast, we knew this was something special. Raw, unbridled power mixed with an intriguing subtlety and a hint of real threat. This is a tune we’ve been testing in the dance and it never disappoints. The final inclusion on FKOFd024 is a collaborative effort with Slynch - a fellow producer we also feel is criminally unrecognised. ‘Fandango’ is a grimey, synth-laden affair, one we feel amply demonstrates why more people should be following these musicians. With its almost industrial atmospheres and spatial elements, this is instant screwface material - a sure sign of something we can get behind.

“We’re not surprised the likes of Hatcha have signed material from the Isolate boys, and if they keep making tunes like these they’re destined for a truly great future. We’re delighted to welcome them to the FKOF family, even more so that we can do so with the 24th release. And what a release this is!”
