about

“We first discovered Dark Harmonics last year, thanks to the absolute monster of a track that’s become the opener to their debut FKOFd EP. Having quickly snapped up ForbidonFountin, we debuted the collective on SoundCloud with their first FKOF Free Download. We didn’t quite realise it at the time, but the unsettlingly deep and dark Cubic Capacity set the tone of what was to follow from the guys.

“ForbidonFountin was an easy opener – setting the often uncomfortable (but hugely enjoyable) tone for what follows in the rest of the EP. FF rolls along with its discombobulated percussion and adventurous sub, combining with the nightmarish samples to create something perversely re-listenable. Crypt Walking stays true to its title, brilliantly evoking scenes of the dead rising. The track lurches along, before rattling drums and keys roll in like freezing fog to set your teeth on edge. Wayne Pipe, the third inclusion on FKOFd018, is one of the heaviest tracks we’ve tested on sound systems in recent memory. It epitomises what we’ve grown to love about Dark Harmonics – foreboding atmospheres, painfully crisp percussion and enough bassweight to keep even the deepest rigs rumbling. The final track on Dark Harmonics’ FKOFd release adds some experimentation into the mix. Quake is perhaps the most forward-facing cut on the EP, but is one that fits nicely alongside the other three with its nice vocal sampling, bubbling basslines and empty spaces.

“One of the goals with our label is to champion the quality music we’re hearing from relatively unknown producers. 18 months into FKOFd, we like to think we’re achieving this goal. We’re delighted to welcome Dark Harmonics to the family, and have high hopes for both the release and the artists. If FKOFd018 is anything to go by, we’ll be hearing a lot more from the Sheffield-based musicians…”
